My father is 88 years old and tends to hate going to the doctor. He felt no different even after going to the hospital for congestive heart failure and then having a stroke. I bought him this book and he thanked me profusely saying that it will help him to manage his condition. Obviously the approach in the book was non-threatening and appealed to him.

This book arrived much quicker than I expected with a nice note attached that was very sweet! It was in excellent condition. Although the workshop I was in had loaned me a copy, I found this book so useful, I wanted to purchase my own and I'm glad that I did as I will be referring back to it when the workshop is over. I will buy from this dealer again if I have the chance in the future.

I signed up to take this Healthy Living course which involved this book. I highly recommend it to anyone with a chronic disease or anyone caring for someone with a chronic disease. It is loaded with helpful tips and information on how to live with chronic disease as well as how to exercise and eat healthy.

This book is a must have for anyone who has a chronic condition, is a caretaker of someone with a chronic condition, or just knows someone with a chronic condition. Having facilitated chronic disease self management classes, I can truly say that everyone finds something useful in this book. I have given copies to family members, and suggested it to friends. The information is basic and simple, but information that we should always keep at our fingertips. The "action" plans are for everyone and the information on future planning and healthy living, including exercises, is a goldmine. The book delves into the emotions that we feel when faced with a chronic condition and the "symptom" cycle. The best part is that it gives you the attack strategy to fight back and deal effectively with all these issues! Highly recommended and extremely useful book.

I found this to be an excellent text full of good information. It is written with the layman in mind and explains necessary background information sufficiently to understand why the recommendations and suggestions made are reasonable and necessary. I highly recommend this book to folks with chronic illness or even to those who simply want to get fit and be healthier.
