Usually ships in 1 business days | | | | | | Not science fiction, but a scientific fact! This book is the first common sense scientific explanation of the aging process and "how to" reverse it. The nutrients that we deliver to our cells burn with oxygen and become acidic wastes after giving energy to our body. The body tries its best to get rid of these acidic wastes through urine and perspiration. Unfortunately, our lifestyle, diet and environment prevent our body to get rid of all the wastes that it generates. Gradually, these leftover acidic wastes accumulate somewhere within our body. Since acid coagulates blood, the blood circulation near the waste areas becomes poor, causing all kinds of degenerative diseases to develop. The author defines the aging process as the accumulation of non-disposed acidic wastes within the body. According to this theory, the reduction of accumulated wastes is re verse aging. This book explains how some of the adult degenerative diseases are caused by too much acidic wastes, and describes the various scientific devices and methods to reduce these wastes without any harmful side effects. These devices and methods are being wid ely used in Japan. Alkaline water makers (water ionizers) have been in existence in Japan for more than 40 years. Many in the alternative health industry of water ionizers, magnet and far-infrared devices regard this book as the most comprehensive and up-to-date reference book of its kind in the English language. It is a "must read" for all who are health-conscious. | | | |

Great review of the science behind alkaline diets Feb 24, 2005
By An Avid Reader This was one of the first books I picked up after reading Dr. Young's "The pH Miracle", which had left me with more questions than answers.
What I loved about this book was the way Mr. Whang explains - in plain English anyone can understand - the chemical and physical science that makes alkaline diets work.
If you're looking to understand the science behind alkaline diets, this book is a must-read.
Mr. Whang doesn't approach alkaline balance like most other authors who just tell you to eat this and not eat that. In the first few chapters of the book, he gives the reader the essential understanding of how the human body works - from a chemical perspective. He doesn't make assumptions or rely on annectodal data - he shows the reader how the laws of physics and chemistry affect the chemical reactions inside the human body.
Armed with this information, he then tells the reader how the basic elements of foods (minerals, calcium, phosphorus, etc.) affect the pH of the body. This is the key understanding when it comes to figuring out which foods are acidifying and which ones are alkalizing.
His approach is very straight forward, clear, and matter-of-fact.
He then goes on to show how an acidic lifestyle and diet affects the body, how the body tries to maintain its chemical integrity, and what the resulting strain does, in terms of reactions, diseases, etc.
Mr. Whang's description of diseases and how they come to be is also very interesting. He goes through a long list of diseases, gives specific reasons for each of them (from an alkaline diet point of view) and tells the reader how to reverse them.
He goes a step further in his description of non-medicinal health improvement devices that are mainly used in other countries. Again, giving scientific reasons why and how they work to alkalize the body.
What is missing from this book is a good description of what to do on a day-to-day basis to become alkaline. He only mentions drinking alkaline waters. As a matter of fact, the only book I've found that has practical approach and step-by-step instructions for becomong alkaline (including what to do tomorrow) is this acid alkaline diet book.
Nonetheless, I think Mr. Whang's book is excellent. If you're serious about getting healthy through an alkaline diet, you must to read this book (and also find another book that gives step-by-step instructions for what to do).

The man knows his stuff Jan 08, 2001
By Marcus T. Brody While doing an internet search one day, I came across the web site for Dr. Sang Whang. It listed some decent info on the web site, along with a plug for his book. It looked interesting so I decided to give it a read.I read the book, and have read many other books on acid/alkaline balance in the body. This book I found very informative and right on target, while some of the others I have read beat around the bush. It is interesting what the author states about how acids form after eating even the healthiest foods. When we can't eliminate these acids, is when disease starts to proliferate. I have been using Alkalife water alkalizing drops and I Must say that it is probably the #1 nutritional supplement I have ever used. It's amazing how good you can feel after only using 2 drops of the stuff in a glass of water. I had been chronically constipated for years, and that alkalized water helps move my bowels better than cascara sagrada, which is an herbal laxative. I would recommend this book to anyone who is ill, or looking to improve their health.

Water Ionizers are Very Good! Dec 19, 1999
By Hollis J. Marsh Mr. Whang's book - in my opinion - should be a "must read" for everyone. I have made an extensive study of these machines and their use, have used one myself for over a year and find that my weight has dropped as did Mr. Whang's; and be assured that the alkaline water will indeed "clean you out." One of the caveats in the instructions for use is to be cautious when first using alkaline water as it will cause loosening of the bowels for a short period. I can attest it does clean you out! The one thing Mr. Whang does not mention is that your water may not work well in an ionizer if it has too much salt or is too hard. Hardness over 200 ppm can give trouble - the solution is to use bottled water with a stand-alone unit and thus get all the benefits of alkaline and acidic water. Also as noted by one of the other reviews, adding alkaline drops to the water you drink is a good thing. It isn't as powerful as an Ionizer but sure beats doing nothing for your health.

Who would have thought it so simple... Nov 06, 2002
By Gena M. Lumbroso I think this is an important and essential addition to all self-help libraries. Mr. Whang explains very simply the workings of the body. I have been interested in nutrition for some time and have learned over the years to eat "basic," that is, emphasizing foods that balance the body's pH... lemons, for instance, I learned, although acid in taste actually have a basic effect on the body. Most foods used in their natural form do also. But good heavens with the introduction of modern, refined and processed foods as well as the various prevalent pollutants that we spill into our environment, the aging process has sped up while degenerative diseases have increased. Now I wouldn't recommend this water as a plethora. Rather it is good to use while making some other corrections to one's diet as well, beginnning with cutting back on the carbonated drinks and other various highly sugar-laced and/or overly processed food stuffs! I think he has a very original idea with the ionizer and the drops! In France there is the Dr. Kousmine who has also thought and taught along those lines, advising patients to take alkalizing salts when urine pH is too acidic. I especially appreciated his middle-of-the-road-no-excess philosophy, so important in matters of health, MODERATION being the key word. Let's face it, we wouldn't even be needing this water if we hadn't already broken a few of the rules along the way... But even too much of a good thing can be bad. With that in mind, don't over do it with the basic water... BALANCE being the main goal! Thanks Mr. Whang for this great and very simple-to-use idea!

Miraculous Is All I Can Say About Ionized Water! Dec 23, 2007
By URL Cruiser
"midnight surfer"
Bought this inexpensive paperback to see what it had to say. It's all about ionized water. Searched the web and found the magnesium stick for sale that it talks about as the cheapest way to try using ioniozed water. It's $20. After about 4 weeks, I noticed a finger that was severly pinched in a huge metal gate and suffered some soft tissue damage was feeling much better. The finger usually hurt when used without a removable finger splint and would take several days of wearing the splint before the pain would go away. I stopped using the splint after about 6 weeks of being on the ionized water. I have been using ionized water ever since for everything I drink -- coffee, instant milk, tea, etc. Occassionally, minor pain comes back but it's only very temporary. Once I tried a few energy drinks and they made the pain come back for several weeks plus several other pains set in. I never tried them again and after about 6 weeks of using the splint again, the pains were all gone and I don't need to wear the splint. Ionized water has been the only thing that has helped my finger to heal. Amen and hallelujah for this book and the magnesium stick and ionized water! I tried an accupuncturist who used electric stimulation. That worked for about 4 weeks but the pain returned and additional treatments did not work. I saw a doctor who basically said live with it, tape two fingers together when you need to use it in what is called the buddy system. Yeah, right doc, go study up on ionized water and reconsider the techniques of your practice.
