• Protect yourself against the estrogenic substances in the environment, products, water, and food
• Learn how certain foods and herbs can protect you!
Estrogenic chemicals—known for causing the near extinction of various living species—are found in some of the most common foods we eat.
In this revolutionary diet book, Ori Hofmekler addresses the millions of overweight and obese individuals who have failed or are disappointed with other diets—those who suffer from yoyo dieting, weight gain rebounds, or accumulation of stubborn fat in the belly and other estrogen-sensitive areas. Focusing on our current over-exposure to estrogenic chemicals in the environment, foods, and water, The Anti-Estrogenic Diet provides a practical solution to fat gain, estrogen-related disorders (PMS, endometriosis, fibrocystic disease), and increased risk of common cancers in women and men (breast, ovarian, cervical, prostate).
Allowing you to still enjoy your favorite foods, the program is based on incorporating anti-estrogenic foods, spices, and herbs into your diet, while eliminating estrogenic foods and chemicals. Exposing dietary myths and fallacies, Hofmekler teaches readers that some foods commonly regarded as “healthy” may actually be harmful and vice versa.
Special chapters dedicated to readers with different needs and health conditions, recipes, a question-and-answer section, and a list of scientific references are also included in this valuable resource. | | | |

Really has worked for us Oct 23, 2007
By Jerel Kratt I honestly believe that KR Simmons' review was incorrect and largely could be misleading to others. It made me think he didn't even really read it. Ori did an excellent job explaining, with unparalleled scientific footnoting for a diet book, the main premise which is how damaging excessive estrogen can be for the body. One you understand that, then the author explains which foods have anti-estrogenic abilities to counter-act the excess estrogen problem, and then which foods to avoid which promote estrogen. So it is not some sort of vegan diet from of old. It is based on modern research. And estrogen comes from more than food; we largely are bombarded by it from the chemicals persistent in the environment. Now, I have been on this diet for 2 months, and my wife also. I have not only lost weight (15 pounds), and have more "sexy" abs (like my wife says) from also doing Ori's CFT training (see his web site for info) along with the AED, but MOST importantly, I have discovered through the food re-introduction phases -(which occurs after the first two weeks, and could last as long as you want to keep trying to re-introduce all sorts of foods you want to eat)- I have discovered which foods cause my severe allergies (I am on immunotherapy - allergy shots), and which foods cause headaches, etc. I tried my doctor's food elimination diet, which didn't tell me anything, because my body was never really detoxified from excess estrogen. I am a firm believer, and I have never said that of any other diet or eating plan before. This provides a solution to what nearly every other diet program fails to address - why we rebound from dieting. Once your body is "truly" detoxified, you won't want to eat junk any more because junk food makes you sick - you immediately get headaches and allergies and bloating (sometimes diarrhea or constipation). I think that since most of us eat poor food so often we no longer even detect when it makes you sick. But we (my wife and I) sure have now. And, we have been eating organic for 2 years prior to this and that even wasn't the "solution" like this is. And finally (I know I have written a lot so I hope this is helpful), but there is a great online community/forum for help and support. So even if someone doesn't know how to read they can get help from the forum, from many people who are successful, and even from the author/co-author themselves. I recommend you buy it and try it with serious commitment for a month or two and see for yourself, rather than taking a disgruntled person's opinion.

Great Information, needs organization Nov 25, 2007
By Sitara This book makes a great deal of sense. If you can get your hands on a report about your own local water supply you will find that there is estrogen in your drinking water!!! The overchemicalization and over hormonization of our food culture is causing great disruption in our body's ability to operate in a normal manner. I agree with the author's premise that we must de-tox from all the chemical pollution we have stuffed inside our cells and try as best we can to remain free of the overprocessed stuff now offered in grocery stores and restaurants.
My only problem with the book was that it seemed disjointed and unorganized. I really should blame the publisher and not the author for not doing a better job of outline and organization. I would like to have seen a chapter or two of a complete list of "anti-estrogenic" foods and the combinations therof. And I would like to have seen at least the two weeks of de-tox in a suggested daily menu format, and many more suggested recipes. The author speaks of athletes and people involved in intense physical training and I believe most of the people who will be reading this book are interested in the loss of stubborn weight gain. There should be more information dedicated to that much larger audience, in my opinion.
It is a scholarly work and those people who are not familiar with the chemical names of substances will have a harder time trying to make sense of which substances and suppliments are preferrable. The author and publisher need to revise this book into a more readable and organized format.

Good Information Nov 11, 2007
By Ella Johnston Leger
"China"
Good information about what causes estrogen imbalance and recommendations to reverse it. If you want to know more about what causes estrogen imbalances in both female and male bodies and what to do about it then this is a good book to read. I highly recommend it for anyone you has some knowledge in the area and is truly interested in learning how to overcome this hormonal imbalance. It is somewhat dry in nature but chocked full of valuable information if you are serious about your health.

Old Concept, Poorly Explained! Just A Modified Vegatarian Diet! Oct 21, 2007
By K.R. Simmons I bought is this book with high expectations and was sorely disappointed. My biggest gripe is that it is poorly organized, hard to start and difficult to follow. For example his points are all over the place! It is hard to figure out just exactly what to eat because he does not give many menu ideas or recipes. His main focus is: "Don't mix fuels" (carbs and fats) Ok, nothing new there, that is food combination, but he does a very poor job explaining an old concept. Also, he recommends eating things that break that rule (like Hummus which is awesome but has both HIGH FAT and CARBS).
His anti-estrogen eating plan resembles a vegetarian diet with a few eggs, fish and whey mixed-in for good measure. To quote him: "Eat up the food chain and eat mostly at the bottom of the food chain," that is his mantra in the book. That is basically it, and I am not kidding. He recommends very high consumption of carbs (mainly eat little else during the day except fruits and cruciferous vegetables with a few mixed greens and a little good oils...)
This eating plan is just not healthy for a person with any type of metabolic resistance issues like a diabetic or a person with thyroid issues (which is probably 65% percent of the people who would buy a diet book, especially women who want to know more about riding the body of excessive estrogen!).
I know from my own research and experience that protein must play a bigger role than he claims and you can not possibly think eating only eggs, fish and whey will meet those needs. According to him you get too much estrogen from eating animal meat, and you should instead get your protein from grains and legumes in a 1:1 ration regardless of the carb intake (told you, vegetarian diet!). Why not just suggest people eat organic and grass fed meat, therefore by passing the hormones and antibiotics? It is proven that grass fed meat is lower in estrogens and higher in Omega 3, why did he not promote that more I wonder?
What did I learn about ridding my body of excessive estrogens? 1. Don't eat red clover, licorice, hops, or soy. 2. Eat very little animal meat and only once a day at night. 3. Don't mix fuels like fat and carbs, but your fuel should mainly come from either a HIGH fat day or a HIGH carb day. (He says to toss the low carb idea out the window). 4. Eat lots of cruciferous vegetables and supplement with Indole 3 to detox the liver. (something you are warned NOT to do if you have a thyroid condition, which again is a big audience that he is writing to, and he NEVER addresses that!) 5. Exercise (duh)
There are parts of the book I will incorporate into my diet (thus the 2 stars), but I really think this topic should be readdressed by a better writer with a more CLEAR eating plan and better menu's and recipes.

The Anti Estrogenic Diet is AMAZING! Oct 25, 2007
By Lynda D. Denson The ANTI ESTROGENIC DIET is AMAZING! It is DEFINITELY working for me!
In 2 weeks time, I've lost 26 pounds!
I've lost 3 inches from my bust. I've lost 8 inches from my waist. I've lost 3 inches from my hips. I've lost 3.5 inches from my upper thighs. I've lost 3 inches from my upper calf. I've lost 1.75 inches from my upper arm.
Not only am I losing pounds and inches, I'm feeling so much better!
As an EXTRA BONUS, this past week was my monthly menstrual cycle. For years, I have had SEVERE CRAMPS during this time of the month. My mom had always had very hard cramps and the same sort of problems I was having, so I thought it was probably hereditary and genetic and that I would just have to live with it... BUT, this month I had absolutely no cramps at all...It was AMAZING!
I feel better than I've felt in years!
I still have a LONG way to go... but, I'm loving the food I'm eating. I'm not hungry. I don't have cravings for sweet things. I feel full and satisfied, and I really believe that I can live with this modified way of eating for the rest of my life! I know that eventually I'll have to start exercising.... (something I don't like to do).... but, for right now, I'm enjoying losing weight and inches without having to do the exercises!
The Anti Estrogenic Diet book gives you a very basic, very simple, overview of the diet and helps you to understand WHY it is working. There is a small recipe section that gives a few ideas of some different dishes you can have for meals. There is a Question/Answer section that addresses some of the more common questions. There is also a chapter on how to make this diet work for you if you are a Type II Diabetic. There is an interesting chapter about soy products and why they might not be as good for us, as what we have been hearing. There is information to help you know how to gradually add other foods back into your diet and maintain your weight loss after you have reached your goal. There is good information on how to nourish your muscles after exercise and how to build muscle mass... There is a lot of good information in the book.
Personally, I wish the book would have had a few more recipes and a few more meal plans.... but, they have an online forum where you can go and get any of your questions answered. It's great place where you can find friends who are also trying to lose weight... and where you can encourage each other and share ideas, and recipes, and success stories. THE ANTI ESTROGENIC DIET IS GREAT! IT'S WORKING FOR ME! I GIVE IT 5 STARS without any hesitation at all!
